DeBary, FL.
57 deg. fog, no wind.
Forecast = Partly cloudy with a chance of rain in the afternoon. High of 79F. Winds less than 5 mph. Chance of rain 20%.
Thought I'd check in so you wouldn't think I've forgotten about this blog. There's not a whole lot to tell you about. Laura and Lindsey have stopped by a couple times and then yesterday afternoon, Laura and Anna stopped by. Anna's had Friday and the rest of the weekend off of work, so she came here, from Jacksonville, to see her mom, dad and sister.
Jim hasn't been feeling too well. The other day, he thought for sure that he was getting a bad cold, but the plugged up head, runny nose and sore throat only lasted for 1 day. Yesterday, the weather was kind of nasty, (by Florida standards), so Jim stayed pretty much inside.
Linda has been doing some reading and has been making TV mix and cranberry bread for the holidays.
Oh, I've got a little riddle for you. How do you know that it's getting close to Christmas?
They are advertising the "Clapper" and the "Chia Pet" on TV!!!!
OK, I just have to make a comment on the horrific situation up in Connecticut. It's on everyone's minds and it just can't be ignored.
I know that I'm not the smartest RV in the park so maybe that's why I can't figure something out about all of this. You see, on TV, they're saying that the young man that shot all the children and adults stole the guns from his mother.
Now, what I can't understand is what was the mother doing with those types of guns? Especially the assault rifle!!!! I could understand a hand gun for protection but not the others.
Hmmmmmm!!! Maybe I'm missing something?
Don't know what's going on here today. I heard Jim and Linda talking about maybe going out for breakfast so maybe they'll do that.
Please keep all the people up in Connecticut who are suffering through this terrible situation in your thoughts and prayers. It's got to be just horrible for the families and friends of the victims.

Blocked Up, Sunrise and Odds And Ends
Rantoul, IL.
63 deg. clear, no wind.
Forecast = Sunny. Highs in the upper 80s. Light northeast winds.
Jim didn't feel too well yesterday. His head was all blocked up, and had been for a couple days, so he took one of those allergy tablets. Those things make him really tired though, so he ended up sleeping quite a bit.
In between taking naps and falling asleep while sitting on the couch, he went outside a few times, watched a bunch of the Olympic games on TV and finished transferring addresses from the old GPS unit to the new one.
You know, one of these days, I'm going to see if I can get Jim to take some photos of the sunrise from here in the CG. I'm facing to the East, the sun is just coming up and it's really kind of pretty. I think he could get some neat photos if he just walked over to the other side of the park.
Do you remember me telling you that we had a good rain shower come through here Saturday night? Well, I found out that Louise had her rain gauge out and when she checked, there was just over 1" of rain in it!!!!
That should help a little. : )
Linda needs to make a few important phone calls today and Jim needs to renew my and CLT's license plates, ( He can do that on the Internet), and either today or tomorrow, they'll need to go to the grocery store to replenish some items they're out of.
Other than that, I don't thing there are any other plans.
Did you know that the oldest ever Olympian is Oscar Swahn of Sweden? He was 72 years, 281 days old when he competed at the 1920 Olympics in shooting.

Tests, Hanging Out, and Plans Canceled
Frostproof, FL.
64 deg. overcast, SE wind @ 4 mph.
Forecast = Patchy fog early in the morning...then partly cloudy. Highs in the lower 80s. Southeast winds 10 to 15 mph becoming south in the afternoon.
I was wondering what was going on when Jim woke Linda a 7:30 yesterday morning. She usually doesn't get up that early, so I guessed that they were going someplace or someone was coming here to see them.
Well, it was the first guess. About 8:30 they took CLT and headed over to Roland and Louise's. Once there, Linda and Louise took Louise's car and headed down to Avon Park, FL, which is only about a dozen miles from here.
You see, both Louise and Linda needed to get blood tests and since Louise was getting hers yesterday, Linda figured she may as well ride down there with her and get hers done at the same time. ; )
After they were finished with the blood tests, Louise went to Wally World to pick up a few items and a prescription, (Linda waited in the car), and then they both went to a restaurant to get something to eat.
While they were doing that, Jim and Roland hung out at Roland's and solved most of the problems of the world. ; ) CLT also took them to a Micky D's to pick up a couple sausage biscuits, that they brought back to the house to eat.
Just before noon, Jim came back here to the park, and then in a little while, Louise dropped Linda off on her way back home.
There was a plan to go out to dinner with Roland and Louise, but Louise had an upset stomach, so those plans were canceled. : ( Instead, Linda cooked a couple micro meals in the microwave.
The evening was spent watching TV and reading..
A Point to Ponder: How fast do hotcakes sell?

The Best Laid Plans, Most Sites Empty and The Illinois Bunch
Rantoul, IL.
57 deg. clear, no wind.
Forecast = Sunny. Highs in the mid 80s. Light southeast winds.
Well, the best laid plans . . . . . . . . Jim was going to go to Farm & Fleet yesterday morning, but after he was up for awhile, he got a stomach ache and spent most of the morning close to my "little room". : O
Don't really know what caused it, but he didn't feel good for most of the day so the only thing that got done was to go to the Post Office to get mail in the afternoon and stop at the grocery store for bread and a few essentials. He seems to be feeling better this morning so maybe he can get down to Farm & Fleet this morning.
Most of the sites are empty here at the CG. There were 4 Motor Homes across the street from me but now they have left in the last few days. Right now there are Motor Homes on each side of me, but the folks on my left are gone most of the time and the ones on my right don't seems to want to be very friendly. Oh there are a few RVs down at the other end of the park but I never see much movement down there.
If the weather holds, there should be some RVs coming in for the weekend though. and then of course there's the Farm Show starting on the 25th and then Labor Day right behind it, so maybe I should enjoy this quiet time. ; )
Oh, I've found out that some friends of Jim and Linda's are coming to the CG on the 7th of September. Myrddin always called them the "Illinois Bunch" because they're all from Illinois and they all go down to a CG in Florida for a good part of the winter. 2 of the 3 couples have said they are coming on the 7th, but we're still waiting to hear if the 3rd couple can make it then or not.
I hope so. I'd sure like to meet all of them. : )
Did you know that it was on this date in 1977 that Elvis Presley died?
