Linda did a load of laundry yesterday morning while Jim fooled around with the computer. He's still refining our trip plan out to Oregon. He keeps finding new routes or places along the way that look interesting so he keeps changing it. ; )
Then, in the afternoon, Jim and Linda took CLT (Cute Little Truck) and headed to Walgreen's to pick up Linda's prescriptions. They had received a phone call telling them that they were ready for pick-up and sure enough, they were.
No problems this time. Everything went smoothly. : )
Jim's been fighting allergies lately. He's been doing some research and it looks like it may be the "Live Oak" trees that are causing much of his distress, and this park is full of them. : ( He's got some medication that helps, but it makes him drowsy and so he tries not to take it unless he has to.
Well, yesterday was one of those days, so he took his medication and then ended up sleeping for about 2 hours in the late afternoon.
By the time he woke up, it was time for dinner, so he and Linda headed over to the DeBary Diner, which is just a short distance from here. When they got there, the place was packed though, so they headed to Gram's Kitchen in Orange City and had a nice meal there.
Jim had their homemade Chicken Pot Pie (which is very good), and Linda had the Chicken Fried Steak, (which is also very good). Jim was able to finish his meal but Linda brought about 1/2 of hers back here and put it in my refrigerator.
The evening was spent watching TV and fooling around on the computers.
Today, I think Jim and Linda are going to go to the grocery store to pick up a few items. I know they need milk, bread and a few other essentials. It'll probably be pretty busy today, but they don't need much so it shouldn't be too bad.
Oh, before I forget!!! Please be careful if you're traveling today or tomorrow. There will be some people out there driving that have celebrated too much, so watch out for them.
Did you know that on New Years Eve, it is believed that kissing at midnight ensures that affections and ties will continue throughout the New Year? On similar lines, it is said, to not do this would be to set the stage for a year of coldness.

Company, The Weather and Other Stuff

Forecast = Partly cloudy in the morning then clearing. Highs in the mid 60s. West winds around 5 mph.
Tuesday, Laura, Ashley and Anna stopped by for a few hours. No special reason, they just wanted to spend some time with Jim and Linda and see me again. ; )
Then, yesterday, Laura and Lindsey stopped by for a little while. They were heading to the grocery store and just decided to make a slight detour here to the park.
Other than that, there hasn't been much going on here. Jim dumped my tanks, went up to the office and picked up the mail, Linda did some laundry, put away some wrapping paper, cleaned off the desk and read some of her newest book that she received for Christmas.
Tuesday evening they went to Wendy's for dinner and last night they just grabbed some stuff out of the fridge.
Jim and Linda talked to Mike, (who lives up in North Carolina) and Jeff, (who lives out in Oregon). They both seem to be doing well and had very nice Christmases.
The weather has been a big story around here. A cold front came through and now instead of lows in the 60's they're getting down into the low 40's. The highs have been almost 20 degrees cooler than they were also.
But, for New Years Day, they're forecasting highs back up into the upper 70's again. : )
Jim and Linda are getting low on a few items, so they'll probably be heading to the grocery store either today or tomorrow. Jim has a few "hardware" items that he needs to buy, so he may do that, but who knows. Linda also needs to get her prescriptions refilled soon, so I imagine some of the above stuff will get done today.

A Do-Nothing Day

Forecast = Considerable cloudiness with a chance of showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the morning...then showers likely and a slight chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Breezy. Highs in the upper 70s. South winds 15 to 20 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of rain 70 percent.
Yesterday was a do-nothing day. I am thinking that it was because all the excitement of Christmas was over and it was finally OK to relax and not do anything.
Now, don't get me wrong, I really like Christmas, but I think you'll have to admit that Christmas creates a lot of pressure to buy gifts, wrap them, get food ready, work out scheduling conflicts, and in some cases, deal with the weather while trying to get everything accomplished!
So, when it's over, many people just kick back and do nothing for a day.
In fact about the only things that happened here were Jim and Linda cleaning the inside of me a little, putting away some wrapping paper that Linda wants to save, taking naps, watching TV and heating up some left-overs for dinner.
Yep! Basically a Do-Nothing Day.

A Great Christmas Day With Family

I hope all of you had a great day yesterday. : )
Jim and Linda took CLT (Cute Little Truck), and headed over to Laura and Lindsey's yesterday morning. Before they went though, they had a bunch of stuff to pack into the back of CLT. There was a bag of gifts and a box and a bag of food. That seemed like a lot of food to me, but Linda said that she wanted to make sure that there was enough for everyone.
Once they got there, all the food was placed on the kitchen counter, (and anywhere else there was space), and everyone helped themselves. As you can see by the photo below, there was plenty for everyone. ; )
Jim took a few photos of Laura, Lindsey, Ashley and Anna opening presents, but I can't show them here because being that some of the family had just gotten up, Jim was assured bodily harm if he allowed me to post them on this blog! ; )
Anyway, everyone got lots of presents and had a good time being together.
About mid-afternoon, Jim and Linda came back here. There was quite a bit of food left over, so that had to be put away, but once that was accomplished, both Jim and Linda took little naps. .
Marv and Inez had invited Jim and Linda, Laura and her family and Lindsey's brother, Danny, for tacos, so a little after 4:00 they headed to their house in Deland. Inez makes very good tacos, so everyone enjoyed a very good meal and great conversation.

It was about 7:30 by the time CLT brought Jim and Linda back here to the park. It had been a great day with great people, but by this time, both of them were tired, so they watched TV for awhile and then went to bed.

Did you know that child singer Jimmy Boyd was 12 years and 11 months old when he sang the Christmas favorite, "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus?" The song hit the top of the pop charts.

Did you know that Silent Night was written in 1818, by an Austrian priest Joseph Mohr? He was told the day before Christmas that the church organ was broken and would not be prepared in time for Christmas Eve. He was saddened by this and could not think of Christmas without music, so he wanted to write a carol that could be sung by choir to guitar music. He sat down and wrote three stanzas. Holiday Traditions

What are your traditions at Christmas? Do you wait until Christmas morning to exchange presents, or do you open all or some of them on Christmas Eve?
Do you go to someones house for Christmas or do they come to your home?
When you open presents, do they all get passed out first and then everyone opens them at once, or are the presents passed out one at a time and everyone waits until that present is opened before another present is opened? Or does everyone just gather around the tree and everyone opens them as they are found?
How about the traditional Christmas Dinner? Do you have a dinner with family, friends, or by yourselves? Or, do you even have a dinner?
For full-timers, living in an RV it's not always possible to be with family. Jim and Linda usually are able to be with Laura because she lives here in the South where it's warm, but there have been times when they've been traveling or in a different part of the country for the Holidays. Those holidays can be tough, but many RV parks have some kind of dinner or party and everyone is welcome. And, with cell phones you can usually make contact with family and friends.
This will be my first Christmas with Jim and Linda and I'm curious to find out what their traditions are.
Jim and Linda took CLT and went to the Winn Dixie Grocery store yesterday. Then, they headed to a gas station and bought CLT a drink of 87 octane before heading back here to the park.
CLT said that the traffic was terrible and everyone was rushing around to try to get everything done before Christmas. He's hoping he doesn't have to go back out on the road until Christmas day.
Today, Linda will be putting together some food to take over to Laura's on Sunday. She bought some lunch meat, cheese, and summer sausage and is planning on baking some banana bread today too.
Did you know that the Christmas season begins at sundown on 24th December and lasts through sundown on 5th January? For that reason, this season is also known as the Twelve Days of Christmas.
