Thursday, Jim did take CLT to get his drink of 87 octane on the way to the DeLand Truck Center where he picked up 2 valve stem extensions for my inside dual tires. When he returned, he installed them and now he should be able to check and air up those tires without any problems. : )
Laura called Thursday evening. She was all excited because she and Lindsey had just picked up her new car from the dealership and was wondering if Jim and Linda would like to meet them for coffee someplace and to check out the car!!! Jim suggested Gram's and since that was acceptable to everyone, Jim and Linda took CLT and headed over there. When they got there, they found out that Laura had called Marv and Inez and they were coming to Gram's too!!
What a great surprise!!!! Not only did Jim and Linda get to see Laura's new car, they also had a chance to visit with Marv and Inez too!!!!
Her new car is a brand new 2012 Buick. (don't remember the model), and is it ever a beauty!! The reason I know it's a beauty is because yesterday, Laura stopped by here for about an hour on her way to the grocery store. It's got all the gadgets you could think of and it's so shiny that I could see my reflection in it!!! ; )
Maybe Jim can take a photo of it one of these days so I can show it to you.
Oh, they're starting to put up the Christmas decorations here at Highbanks. There's this small "island" of grass and trees in the main road that goes past the end of the street I'm on and every year they put up lots of decorations on it. It's looking real nice and last night they even had it all lit up!! : )
Ashley stopped by for a little while after she got off work yesterday evening. No special reason, just wanted to stop by and visit for awhile.
It's so nice to be in a park so close to Laura, Lindsey and Ashley. When they have a little time, they just pop by for awhile to visit. : )

Dinner With Jeff And Heather and Plans For The Summer
Portland, OR.
50 deg. overcast, no wind.
Forecast = Overcast with a chance of a thunderstorm and rain showers. High of 57F. Winds from the SW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 80%.
It didn't rain a lot yesterday, just off and on showers all day. Jeff was able to ride his bike out here to the park in the afternoon without getting wet, but just after he arrived, it rained pretty hard for a short time. Heather didn't come with Jeff as she was working, and wasn't able to come until a little after 6:00.
Jim and Linda had invited both of them out here for dinner, so as soon as Heather arrived, they sat down to eat.
After eating, everyone sat and talked for awhile before it was time for them to head for home. Heather's work keeps her really busy, and I was sure glad she could come out here to see me again, even if it was for only a short time.
As they were leaving, I heard Jeff tell Jim that he may have a little time to get together this afternoon, but he would call and let him know how things were going. Tomorrow night, Jim and Linda are invited to Jeff and Heather's for dinner, and then on Sunday, Heather's parents are coming to their house and Jim and Linda are invited then too.
Oh, I almost forgot!!! Jim was busy yesterday morning, working on our trip plan for our return trip back East. He and Linda have made some major decisions about how we'll be going and where we will be staying on our way to Wisconsin for Linda's family reunion the middle of July.
Here's a rough outline of the trip.
We'll be leaving here next Tuesday and will head for Sprague Washington, where Linda hopes to find some information about some ancestors of hers that lived there at one time.
From there, we'll work our way across the northern part of the US to Minnesota, where the plan is to visit Linda's cousin Bruce and his wife Jody, who live North of Bemidji near a little town called Black Duck.
After spending 3 or 4 days with them, we'll head into Wisconsin, and to a Campground near Iron River where Jim has made reservations so that I have a place to stay for the 4th of July holiday.
Then after the 4th, we'll head into Michigan where Jim has made a reservation for me at a park that they have been to before, near a little town called Ahmeek. As I understand it, this is a small CG right on Lake Superior with great views of the lake right from the sites. Both Jim and Linda really like it there.
By the time we've stayed at that park for a week, it will be time to head back down into Wisconsin for the Family Reunion, which is going to be in New Lisbon, WI. (About 20 or 25 miles North of the Wisconsin Dells, where I took Jim and Linda to last year).
From the reunion, we'll head back down to the Prairie Pines CG in Rantoul, IL, where we'll spend most of the rest of the summer.
Whew!!!! A long trip, but it should be fun and I'm looking forward to seeing yet some other parts of the country that I haven't been to with Jim and Linda.

Fireworks? Old Faithful? and Dinner

Jim and Linda took CLT and headed into town yesterday morning to do some shopping. The first stop was at "Billy's Western Wear where Jim found 2 short sleeve shirts that he really liked and a new straw cowboy hat to replace the one that looks like it's been worn 3 too many years already.
From Billy's they headed to a place called "EWE & EYE". There, Linda looked at all kinds of craft and gift stuff like needlepoint items, yarn, thread and toys that are home made, such as dresses for the dolls and children's clothes.
She did find a Christmas present for one of the grand kids, but that was about all. The next stop was "Tweety's RV Parts and Supplies". I'm sure some of you RVers are familiar with Tweety's web site as they are quite popular. The only thing Jim bought there was a new high volume water pressure regular for me.
By this time Jim and Linda were getting hungry, so they came back here for lunch.
Being that yesterday was Jim and Linda's anniversary, they had decided that they would go out for dinner. As they were getting ready, Jim and I noticed someone backing back and forth in a site right across the street from me, trying to get his Dutch Star Motor Home properly positioned in the site.
Well, I could tell that the person didn't know what he was doing because he was constantly turning the front wheels the wrong way. A woman was trying to help guide him into the site, but it wasn't helping much.
Anyway, all of a sudden I saw the Dutch Star backing up right towards the utilities post and yep, you guessed it, the driver backed right over them!!!!!
He didn't just bump them, he backed right over them!!!! The electric box which caused all kinds of fireworks, the cable box which caused even my cable to go off, and the water pipe, which when broken off, gave a very good impression of Old Faithful!! : O
Then as he pulled ahead, the Dutch Star's splash guard got hooked on the broken off utilities and ripped it off of the left side of the MH!!!!
But, then as they say on those TV infomercials, "there's even more"!!!! Yep, after pulling ahead, he backed right back over the utilities again!!!!! : O
About this time another RVer went running over there and got the driver to pull ahead and just park.
Jim and Linda were ready to leave by this time, so on their way out of the park, they stopped by the office and told the person behind the desk what had happened. He had already received a phone call telling him about the accident, but he didn't realize that all the utilities had been wiped out.
After stopping at the office Jim and Linda headed to the Hungry Horse Restaurant in town. It wasn't exactly what they had expected, but it was fine.
At this restaurant, you first go to a counter and order your food. then when it's ready they call your name and you pick it up, like at a fast food restaurant. The difference here is that this is not a fast food restaurant, and the meals are cooked just like they would be in a sit-down restaurant.
Anyway, Jim had the beer battered cod dinner, (which was excellent) and Linda had the chicken fried steak dinner which was also excellent. The prices were good, all the food was very good and Jim and Linda enjoyed their meal. : )
By the time they came back here to the park, Old Faithful had been shut down and the electric and cable had been shut off to the site.
Oh, and the Dutch Star, (which really doesn't seem to be damged too much), and another MH had been moved a few sites down the row to sites that were not affected by the damaged utilities.
The evening was spent reading and watching some TV. I think both Jim and Linda had a very good day. ; )
Before I forget, Jim and Linda want to thank everyone who commented / e-mailed / called yesterday to wish them a happy anniversery. : )

Looking Forward

Happy New Year!!!!!!
It seems that almost all of the people who write the blogs that I follow are talking about what has happened this past year. Well, I'd like to be different and talk about what I'm looking forward to in this New Year.
Oh yeah, I could talk about sitting in an RV lot for almost 1/2 of the year and then being purchased by Jim and Linda, but if you want to hear about what I've been doing since being purchased, all you have to do is to go back in my posts on this blog and read about it.
Instead of looking back, I prefer to look ahead and think about what may be happening to me this year.
This should be a very exciting year for me. Jim has a trip pretty well planned out for a trip out to Oregon and then back to Illinois. So far, our travels have been rushed. We were in a hurry to come down here to Florida to get some repair work done on me. Then we rushed up to NC, VA, and back down here so that we could get to DeBary by Thanksgiving.
When we leave here in about 3 weeks, our travels should be much more relaxed. First, the plan is to go and see Jim and Linda's friends, Roland and Louise, in Frostproof, FL. After a short visit with them, we'll head to Thonotosassa, FL. to join up with the "Illinois Bunch" ( Deny and Bev, Dave and Dee Dee, and Gordy and Dorthy).
After spending a week with them, we'll start wandering towards the West Coast.
Along the way, the plan is to stop by and see some of Jim and Linda's friends who are staying at RV parks on or near our route, see some sights, and slowly work our way to California.
Jim has always wanted to go to Death Valley but one thing or another always gotten in the way, so on this trip we're planning on making that a major stop. After Death Valley and as the weather warms, we'll slowly wander our way up to Portland, (hopefully along the California/Oregon Coast), to see Jeff and Heather, (Jim's son and his lady), who Jim and Linda haven't seen since 2008.
Being that Jim and Linda so seldom get to see Jeff and Heather, we'll probably stay in Portland for at least 3 weeks before starting to wander back to the Mid-West, getting back there sometime in July.
Now, this whole trip is going to be a learning experience for me. You see, my previous owner was always in a hurry to get from point A to point B and we'd cover a lot of miles each day. From what I understand, Jim and Linda don't travel that way. Instead, they don't get on the road until about 10:00, only travel about 150 miles a day and then every few days, stay for a couple of nights if the CG/RV Park is nice.
A much slower pace than I'm used to.
I also can't ever remember being all the way to the West Coast, so that will be a new experience for me. So, I'm really looking forward to this year. : ) It should be fun and exciting and I hope you'll enjoy reading all about our wanderings.
Oh, another thing. There may be a big change in this blog. Right now, I'm experimenting with a different Blog Host and the jury is still out whether I switch or not. I would imagine that in a week or so I'll know what I'm going to do, and I'll make sure that you're the first to know.

A Do-Nothing Day

Forecast = Considerable cloudiness with a chance of showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the morning...then showers likely and a slight chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Breezy. Highs in the upper 70s. South winds 15 to 20 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of rain 70 percent.
Yesterday was a do-nothing day. I am thinking that it was because all the excitement of Christmas was over and it was finally OK to relax and not do anything.
Now, don't get me wrong, I really like Christmas, but I think you'll have to admit that Christmas creates a lot of pressure to buy gifts, wrap them, get food ready, work out scheduling conflicts, and in some cases, deal with the weather while trying to get everything accomplished!
So, when it's over, many people just kick back and do nothing for a day.
In fact about the only things that happened here were Jim and Linda cleaning the inside of me a little, putting away some wrapping paper that Linda wants to save, taking naps, watching TV and heating up some left-overs for dinner.
Yep! Basically a Do-Nothing Day.
Did you know that it is estimated that 400,000 people become sick each year from eating tainted Christmas leftovers?

Another Beautiful Day, A Rough Time For Marshall and A Present For Linda

It was another beautiful day here in DeBary yesterday, but Jim didn't spend much time outside because for the last couple days, the mosquitoes have been just really bad. Even though there has been a little breeze, they've still been out and biting anyone who is outside. : (
Jim did spend about an hour and a half talking to Marshall, (the man who lives in the park model behind me). Just one year ago today, he lost his wife due to sickness, and he was needing someone to talk to. Today and this whole Holiday season is probably going to be very rough for him.
Jim says that he remembers when it happened and it was a very sad time in this park.
On a brighter note, Jim gave Linda a present yesterday.
You see, when Jim and Linda got married back in 1985, neither one of them had any money. In fact, Jim likes to tell everyone that he married Linda for her money.
She had $12.95 in the bank. ; )
Anyway, there was no money for an engagement ring and all these years, Lind has worn just a wedding band. Well, they talked about getting her a ring but Linda said that she didn't want Jim to spend the money for a ring, so yesterday, Jim gave Linda his mother's diamond ring that he had since she passed.
Wow!!! Talk about happy!!!! Linda cried and cried and I thought Jim was going to have to get out a mop!! ; )
Later on, when Laura stopped by for a few minutes to bring Jim and Linda's mail, Linda couldn't wait to show her the ring. : )
Yep!! I think Linda really likes her present!!! : )

Later on, when Laura stopped by for a few minutes to bring Jim and Linda's mail, Linda couldn't wait to show her the ring. : )

Zitttttttt!!!!! BOOM!!!!! and A Phone Call
Rantoul, IL
62 deg clear, NW wind @ 7 mph.
Forecast = Becoming partly sunny. Not as warm. Highs in the upper 70s. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph.
Zittttttttt!!!!!!! BOOM!!!!!!!
Wow!!!! That was exciting!!!!! About 8:30 or so yesterday morning there was a sound of electricity arcing and then a big bang!!! The sound came from the sub station that the electric company has just East of the park and after the noise stopped and the smoke cleared all the power in the CG was off!!
Jim was outside at the time and didn't even flinch! Come to find out, he had heard that same sound here before and knew exactly what had happened. (A transformer had blown). That was not the case for the couple sitting outside in the site right across the street from me though. I think the lady almost had a heart attack!!!
So, Jim walked over and explained that this happens every once in awhile and that the repair men would soon be there and fix the problem. He also told her that the electricity would probably be back on in about an hour. The lady looked a little skeptical, but sure enough, in almost exactly an hour, the repairmen had come, repaired the problem and the power was back on. ; )
After the electric was back on, Jim asked Paul if he would help him get the rest of the totes and boxes out of the storage room in the bath house and bring them over to me. Paul said "sure" and hooked up the little trailer to the back of the ATV that they use to escort RVs to their site. Then he and Jim went over to the bath house, got all the stuff, brought it over to my site and unloaded it all onto the picnic table.
Then, Jim started unpacking boxes, condensing totes, bringing some boxes inside of me, and putting the totes and boxes into my basement compartments. Meanwhile, Linda was going through more boxes and totes inside of me,and putting stuff into cabinets,
By about 2:30 the picnic table was empty, the boxes from inside of me were empty and Jim was taking all the empty boxes and stuff to be thrown away down to the dumpster. : )
About 8:00 last night the phone rang and it was Mike and Terri Young. They are relatively new full-timers who Jim and Linda met at an RV Dreams Rallies a few years ago. They're going to be coming through this area today and called to make sure that we'll be here because they would like to stop by for a visit. Jim assured Mike that we'd be here and would love to have them stop by, so sometime this afternoon they should be here. : )
Mike didn't say how long they would be staying, but I'm hoping that it will be more than just one night. I really like meeting Jim and Linda's friends and their RVs. : )
This morning, Linda has to go get her blood test. CLT said that he just has to take over to Fisher, IL., which is only about 12 miles from here. It shouldn't take long and they should be back here by 11:00 or so. Then, I imagine they'll want to neaten me up a little so I look my best.
