Thursday, Jim did take CLT to get his drink of 87 octane on the way to the DeLand Truck Center where he picked up 2 valve stem extensions for my inside dual tires. When he returned, he installed them and now he should be able to check and air up those tires without any problems. : )
Laura called Thursday evening. She was all excited because she and Lindsey had just picked up her new car from the dealership and was wondering if Jim and Linda would like to meet them for coffee someplace and to check out the car!!! Jim suggested Gram's and since that was acceptable to everyone, Jim and Linda took CLT and headed over there. When they got there, they found out that Laura had called Marv and Inez and they were coming to Gram's too!!
What a great surprise!!!! Not only did Jim and Linda get to see Laura's new car, they also had a chance to visit with Marv and Inez too!!!!
Her new car is a brand new 2012 Buick. (don't remember the model), and is it ever a beauty!! The reason I know it's a beauty is because yesterday, Laura stopped by here for about an hour on her way to the grocery store. It's got all the gadgets you could think of and it's so shiny that I could see my reflection in it!!! ; )
Maybe Jim can take a photo of it one of these days so I can show it to you.
Oh, they're starting to put up the Christmas decorations here at Highbanks. There's this small "island" of grass and trees in the main road that goes past the end of the street I'm on and every year they put up lots of decorations on it. It's looking real nice and last night they even had it all lit up!! : )
Ashley stopped by for a little while after she got off work yesterday evening. No special reason, just wanted to stop by and visit for awhile.
It's so nice to be in a park so close to Laura, Lindsey and Ashley. When they have a little time, they just pop by for awhile to visit. : )

Tires, They Won't Rent Me A Site but Problem Solved

Forecast = Partly cloudy in the morning...then considerable cloudiness with a chance of afternoon showers. Highs in the mid 70s. Southwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 30 percent.
Jim's big project yesterday was to check tires.
The first thing to do, of course, was to get out the compressor and hose. After getting it ready he started on my tires, first on my left and then my right. I'm pleased to say that out of all of my tires, (8 of them), and after more than 2 months, only one was about 5 PSI low!!! : )
After checking my tires, he checked and filled CLT's tires and then his bike's tires.
The other item he took care of was to call back Roland and Louise, (very good friends of theirs who visited us up in Rantoul this past summer and who are now down at at park in Frostproof, FL.), to see if I could get in their park for a few days. He had called them the other day and they said that they would check.
Well, guess what? Even though they have sites sitting empty, they told Louise that they would not rent a site to anyone for less than a week!!!! : ( That won't work for us this year because Jim has made reservation at another park, (starting on the 28th).
Needless to say, Roland and Louise were very disappointed and so were Jim and Linda. : (
Anyway, after Jim and Roland hung up, Jim got on the Internet, found another park that is only a few miles from Roland and Louise's park and made a reservation there!!
They were very happy to rent me a site for less than a week!!!!! : )
Jim called Roland back and told him the good news. Now when we leave here, we're heading to the Lakemont Ridge Home & RV Park in Frostproof for 5 days before heading to Thonotosassa, FL to spend some time with the "Illinois Bunch".
After that, we start heading out West. : )
For dinner, Jim and Linda took CLT and headed over to the Pier 16 seafood restaurant in Orange City. They hadn't been there this year yet and always enjoy eating there. Again, both the food and service were very good.
Did you know that on this date in 1957 the first, non-stop, around-the-world, jet flight came to an end at Riverside, CA? The plane was refueled in mid-flight by huge aerial tankers.

Somewhere Between Yeow!!!!! and Zapp!!!!!

Forecast = Mostly cloudy. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms in the morning...then numerous showers and isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon. Windy. Highs in the lower 80s. Northeast winds 10 to 20 mph becoming east 20 to 25 mph in the afternoon. Chance of rain 70 percent.
Yeah, I'm still here in Lakeland, and will be for awhile yet. The mechanics here at Creative Coach have been working on me every day, and have gotten quite a few things done.
I'm hoping that my slide issue seems to be taken care of. Nothing major was found but it was decided that some minor adjustments were needed and there was a broken brace at the bottom of the slide that was repaired, although they didn't think that it was the cause of the slide hanging up.
Another item that was an issue was some hoses that go from my engine to the Aqua Hot furnace. They are used to carry engine antifreeze to the furnace and back again to heat my engine for starting it when the weather is cold. They were leaking near the furnace and when Dan checked them out, he found that they were hard and cracked all the way from the furnace to my engine and would have to be replaced instead of just splicing in a new section at the furnace.
It was a really big job removing and installing the near 60' of hose that ran along the inside of one of my frame rails.
In my last post, mentioned that it was determined that my tires needed to be replaced. Well, as of yesterday, I now have 8 brand new Michelin tires. The tire man brought them yesterday and changed them right here where I'm parked. He was very good and was very careful not to scratch my aluminum wheels while changing them.
Now, being that I'm 45' long, and weigh a lot, I have to have very large tires to carry the weight. Well, large tires means expensive tires and I'm sure some of you want to know how expensive they were. Well, I don't have the exact figure, but it's somewhere between Yeow!!!!! and Zapp!!!!!
Jim says that in order to have enough money to buy diesel fuel for me, he and Linda will have to eat bread and water for the next few months!! ; )
The weather here has been pretty nice, but wouldn't you know it, it has changed for this weekend. The forecast all the way through Monday is for lots of rain and strong winds. : ( I guess Jim and Linda will be staying inside of me for a few days.

Repairs Coming Along Nicely, But An Unexpected Expense

Dan, one of the mechanics here at Creative Coach has been doing a lot of little things to me. I had a couple compartment doors that needed adjustment and he adjusted them, my right windshield wiper linkage was worn, so he removed it and has new linkage on order, my inverter/converter remote didn't work so he repaired it. As far as major items, he has worked on my kitchen/living room slide and has it working, worked on my main awning and seems to have that working, (except for a minor adjustment that still has to be made), and yesterday, changed the fan belt on my big Onan generator, (Which was a very big job).
One big item that neither Jim nor Linda were expecting was that upon inspection, sidewall cracks were found in 4 of my tires. : ( Now, the reason that this was unexpected is that when I left Rantoul, there were absolutely no cracks in my tires. This is known because before Jim and Linda even purchased me, Jim checked the date codes and did a very good inspection of the tires.
The consensus seems to be that because I sat for quite a long time on the dealers lot, out in the sun, the tires dried out and once we started traveling, they cracked. : (
Jim and Linda decided that they didn't want to take any chances of having a blow-out while driving down the road and possibly doing major damage to me, or even getting into an accident. So . . . . . it was decided that they would buy all new tires for me.
It's going to cost them a bundle, but they think that the safety factor of having new tires is well worth the cost.
Jim has been watching and learning about me as the mechanics have been working on me. They don't seem to mind when he watches and asks questions and in fact Dan seems to welcome him being there and occasionally helping out by holding a part in position or getting a wrench or bolt for him.
Jim has taken a few pictures in the last few days, and I'll try to get a few posted here but for some reason the Internet connection around here is very flaky. Some times, like so far this morning, everything goes along nicely, but then all of a sudden I'll lose the signal. Sometimes I can get right back on but other times I can't and have to wait until sometime later to get reconnected. : (
Did you know that by the time the first Spanish conquistadors arrived, there were over 250,000 Native Americans living on the peninsula which is now Florida?

Starting To Get Ready and The Weather Forecast
Rantoul, IL.
57 deg. mostly cloudy, no wind.
Forecast = Mostly cloudy with a 50 percent chance of showers. Much cooler. Highs in the upper 60s. North winds 5 to 10 mph.
Not a whole lot to report today. Jim has started getting me ready to travel. Yesterday, he checked the air pressure in all my tires and repositioned some stuff in one of my basement compartments. The rest of the day was spent visiting with the neighbors, (Ron and Marilyn, who are leaving here tomorrow) and Paul and Louise.
He and Linda also went to the Post Office to pick up the last mail that will be sent here and to mail a package.
For dinner Jim cooked some burgers on the grill and Linda got out some potato salad that they had bought the other day at the store, along with some chips and condiments.
I think the weather is going to be the big news around here for the next few days. Yesterday the temperature was in the mid 80's, today the high is supposed to be in the upper 60's and tomorrow the high is forecast to be in the low 60's with overnight lows getting down to the lower 40's or upper 30's!!!! Brrrrrrrr!!!!
Oh, and Judy, who was coming to visit us, still has the problem with her MH and now it sounds like it's being towed to a RV dealer. I sure hope they can get the problem repaired soon because I still have hopes that she can stop by here.

Utica, IL to Lake Delton, WI and CLT Has A Problem
Lake Delton, WI.

Forecast = Mostly sunny. Patchy fog early in the morning. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs in the mid 80s. West winds around 5 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.
We left the CG in Utica about 10:45 and after getting back to I-39, followed it around Rockford, into Wisconsin and up to Portage, WI. From there, we took I-90 up here to Lake Delton, which is right next to the Wisconsin Dells.
It was 3:15 when we pulled into the Country Roads Motorhome and RV Park so it took us about 4 1/2 hours to travel the 179 miles up here.
OK, now I suppose you're wondering why it took us so long to travel those 179 miles?
Well, CLT had a little problem.
As we were coming through Madison, WI. Jim looked in my mirrors and noticed pieces of rubber flying out from behind us. Then, a truck driver along side of us started flashing his lights. Right away Jim and I both knew something was wrong, so he pulled me over onto the shoulder of the road and got out to check.
Yep! CLT's right rear tire had blown and was completely shredded. : ( Jim went right to work, changed the tire, ( he had to put on that dinky little spare) and in just a short while we were back on the road. In just a few miles, we came upon an exit were there was a T/A Truck Stop so Jim pulled me into there, parked me in one of the truck spots away from the pumps and buildings and unhooked CLT from the back of me. After cleaning up a little, he took CLT and went in search of a tire store.
As we were coming off of the expressway, Jim and Linda noticed a Goodyear sign so he headed there first. Well, they sold mostly commercial tires and didn't have CLT's size but the salesman called another tire store in the area, found out that they had the proper size tire, and soon CLT was on his way to GCR Tires, which is actually a Firestone store.
CLT said that the men went right to work on him a soon as Jim pulled him into the shop and in about 20 minutes he was on his way back to the T/A Truck Stop where Linda and I were waiting.
So, that's why it took us so long to get up here to the Dells area. Don't know what caused CLT's tire to blow but we had some very rough roads around the Janesville area and I suppose that could have caused it. I guess we'll never really know.
The Country Roads Motorhome and RV Park seems like a very nice park. Jim and Linda have been here before, and think it's one of the best parks, for the money, in the Wisconsin Dells area. The people in the office are very friendly and after Jim checked me in, the lady took her golf cart and led me to my site.
I always like it when they do that. : )
I'll be staying here for the next 7 nights. The way it sounds, Jim and Linda will be taking CLT and going to see the rest of the family every day, (starting this afternoon). They're staying at a Lodge near here and from what I understand have all the facilities to prepare meals, gather together, and sleep the 30 or so family members who will be staying there.
It must be a big place.
As I learn more I'll be sure to fill you in. I'm sure Jim will be taking some pictures and I'll try to include some of them here too.
