Jim and Linda headed over to the house yesterday morning to start getting things ready for painting the living room and hallway. About an hour after they arrived, Laura and Lindsey came and soon after, everyone was either masking or painting.
Jim did all of the masking, Lindsey and Linda painted the larger areas with rollers, Laura painted areas where the rollers couldn't reach with a brush, and then when Jim was done with the masking, he helped Laura.
By early afternoon, the living room and the hallway were painted and the clean-up process was begun.
Soon all the plastic protective floor covers were picked up, the old bed sheets used to cover the furniture were folded up, the tools and brushes cleaned and Laura and Lindsey were on their way back home.
It was so good of Laura and Lindsey to come over and help with the painting. It would have taken Jim and Linda a very long time to get this job done. Thank you so much!!!!!
After they left, Linda called the used furniture place and inquired about the delivery time of Jim's Barcalounger and the chest of drawers. The lady told her that they would be there a little after 5:00 so Jim and Linda decided to head over to Gram's Kitchen to get a bite to eat before they came.
As promised, the furniture arrived on time, and soon Jim and Linda were back on there way back here to the park. It was a long hard day for someone who is not used to working but it was very productive, (with the help of Laura and Lindsey), and Jim and Linda are really glad that the job is done.
Today, they will go back over there to remove the masking tape, stop in at the office to sign some papers and pay the lot rent for February. Hopefully, Jim will take some photos so I can post them here for all to see. ; )

Prepping For Paint and Moving Some Stuff

Not a lot to report today. Jim and Linda have been going over to the house and prepping the walls that are to be painted. Emily had a lot of things hung on the walls so there were a lot of nails and screws to remove. Then of course when they are removed, there's little holes all over that have to be patched.
Also, every time that they go over there, they take a box or 2 of stuff. So far, it's been mostly tote boxes out of my basement compartments. Once they get the boxes over there, they either find a place to put the tote boxes or empty the boxes onto shelves or cabinets, thus leaving the tote boxes available for packing other things that are in my cabinets or drawers.
Today, Jim will be going back over to the house again, there's still a little more patching to do. Then tomorrow, Laura is planning on coming over to help with some of the painting.
Like I said, not a lot to report.

Insurance, Dinner and Buying Paint

Jim and Linda met Laura and Lindsey over at the house yesterday morning. Laura wanted to see the furniture that Jim and Linda had bought and Lindsey helped Jim measure the rooms that Linda is considering painting.
It was about noon when Jim and Linda came back here to the park. When they got back, Linda called the insurance agent to see what was happening with the insurance on the house. Well, the news wasn't good. The agent told her that he had contacted the company and they had told him that it would be at least another week before they would even look at the application!!! : (
When Linda told Jim what the agent had said, Jim said, "Enough is enough, we're going with the back-up plan". !!!!!!!
Linda told the agent what they wanted to do and he said to come on over to the office and he'd get it set up.
So, , , , after Linda grabbed a bite to eat, they headed over there and purchased a policy that gives them very good liability insurance but no insurance at all on the house or anything in it.
Now I know that to some of you this may seem crazy, but being that Jim and Linda didn't pay much at all for the house, (they could buy 4 or 5 of these houses for what it would cost to replace me), and they're planning on having almost all used furniture inside of it, the risk of losing a lot of money in case of a total loss is minimal. As far as personal "things", Jim and Linda don't have too much of that, and have no intention of collecting a lot of "stuff" in the future.
Also, because just the liability insurance is much less expensive than home insurance, they will be able to save some money to put in the bank in case they need or want to buy another house in the future.
This is not an ideal situation but it seems like one of the only options available for a manufactured home this old. (Built in 1976). I can't stress too much to anyone who is considering buying property or a home in FL. Make absolutely sure that you can get insurance on anything you buy, before you sign anything!!!!!! Insurancewise, (I don't think that's a real word), there are some crazy thing happening down here in FL and the rules are changing from day to day. It's not like buying insurance in any other state!!!!!!
For dinner, Jim and Linda met Laura and Lindsey over at the Arby's restaurant in Orange City and then went to Home Depot to pick out and buy paint and supplies for the house. Laura is very good with colors and decorating and Linda really wanted her opinion.
After purchasing (just the right color paint), Laura and Lindsey headed home and Jim and Linda came back here.
So, , , , , , Jim and Lind have made the insurance decision and they have decided that they're not going to "look back". If something happens, Jim and Linda will still be all right. They have enough resources right now that they could go out and buy another house like this one. And, they're still planning on having a medium sized RV for the foreseeable future, so they'll also have that option.
Today, Jim and Linda will be going over to the house and will start the "prep" work for the painting. Then when there's time, Laura will come over and help with the painting.

A Call To Laura and A Call From Denny

Nothing too exciting happened yesterday. After lunch, Jim and Linda took CLT (Cute Little Truck), and headed to Walgreen's to pick up some much needed items and then went to Win Dixie and bought a few groceries that they were out of.
Oh, Linda called Laura and asked her if she would help do some painting and decorating over at the house. It probably would have been better to get that stuff done before getting the furniture, but sometimes you just can't make everything happen in just the right order.
Anyway, Laura said that she'd be glad to help and in fact, I think that today, she may come over and "survey the situation" to see what paint and supplies will be needed.
Later in the day, Denny, (one of the Illinois Bunch), called. He and Bev are at Denny's sister's house in Lakeland right now and are on their way to Thonotosassa for the month of February. They were fooling around with a computer and Denny was wanting to know the address of the house so that they could look up the location.
The way things stand right now, we won't be able to get down to Thonotosassa while they're there, so they are trying to figure out a way that they could stop by here for a day or so when they leave there and start their return trip back to Illinois.
That would be great!!! I hope they can work it out!!! : )
Jim called the Insurance Agent yesterday and he told them that he still hadn't heard back from the insurance company. So, , , , , still more waiting on that issue. : (

Cookies and Christmas Plans

Brrrrrr!!!!! 31 deg and it may go down another degree or so because as I write this, it's just starting to get light outside. At least they're forecasting warmer temperatures for today and tomorrow, so it should be nice for the Holiday.
Linda baked a whole bunch of cookies yesterday and then decorated them. She also put together a rice dish to take to Marv and Inez's today for a Christmas dinner. Some of the cookies are boxed up and ready to go and the rice dish will just have to heated up before Jim and Linda leave here around 10:30.
I imagine that Inez will have a big meal prepared again. She's a very good cook and is used to making large meals to feed Lindsey, his 3 brothers and their families. Inez's sister will probably be there too, so there'll be lots of people. Also, sometime, (either before or after the meal), Lindsey's family will exchange presents.
Then, because Laura has to work on Christmas Day, tomorrow evening, Jim, Linda, Marv and Inez will go to Laura and Lindsey's. That's when Jim and Linda will exchange gifts with Laura and Lindsey, Ashley and Anna.
Should be a fun couple of days!! : )

Dinner At Laura's and Inside Decorations

Laura stopped by for awhile Wednesday morning. She's had company staying at her house for the last few days, so we hadn't seen her for awhile. Jim had gone to the Post Office earlier and had picked up some of those Priority boxes, so while she was here, she helped Jim and Linda package up some Christmas presents to be sent off to family.
She was here for a couple hours but before she left, she invited Jim and Linda over to her house for dinner and tentative plans were made for her to come back on Thursday, to help decorate the inside of me.
About 4:30 Wednesday afternoon, Jim and Linda took CLT (Cute Little Truck), and headed over to Laura and Lindsey's. Earlier, Laura had put some beef and gravy in a crock pot and after letting it slow cook for a good part of the day, it made for a great dish when served over rice. That, along with some sweet corn and some hot-out-of-the oven chocolate chip cookies for desert, made for a very tasty meal. ; )
About 11:30 yesterday morning, Laura came out here to the park and helped Jim and Linda decorate the inside of me. It really wasn't hard to do and it didn't take very long, but like I said the other day, it's become kind of a tradition for Laura and/or the girls to help, and everyone seems to have a lot of fun doing it. ; )
Today, Jim needs to go up to the office and pay another month's rent for my site. (Can you believe that we've been her for a whole month already? ) Then, because there are a couple boxes of presents ready to sent, he wants to go to the Post Office to mail them.
Linda still has a few more presents to get ready, so I imagine she'll be working on that today. Hopefully she'll be able to get them finished and wrapped soon so that they can be mailed. Once they're mailed, the pressure will be off and she can relax.
A Point to Ponder : We cannot change the direction of the wind ... but we can adjust our sails.

Looking Festive

Laura has been very busy lately so she hasn't had time to come over to help decorate the inside of me, but Jim dug out the outside decorations and now has me looking festive. ; )
Also, if you look real close, you may be able to see the Christmas tree on the passengers side of my dash. There's no lights or decorations on it yet, but it's secured in place.
In my last post, I talked about the people here in the park decorating the little "island" in the road. Well, Jim took some photos of some of the decorations so I thought I'd post a few here.
I'm hoping that Jim will go out one of these nights and try to get a few photos of these decorations when they're lit up. If he does, I'll post a few of them.
Not a whole lot going on around here. Except for presents for each other, Jim and Linda have all the Christmas shopping done. Linda has been very busy doing some embroidery work on some of the presents, sewing on some of the others and then wrapping them when she's finished. And, she and Jim have also ordered a few presents on line and had them shipped directly to the recipients. (This is the first year that they've done that).
Jim's been riding his bike some, talking to the neighbors and helping Linda when he can.
Did you know that on this date in 1918 - U.S. President Woodrow Wilson set sail for France to attend the Versailles Peace Conference? Wilson became the first chief executive to travel to Europe while in office.

Whew!!!

Whew!!! Jim and Linda didn't win that Power Ball thing that everyone has been talking about!!! You see, I'm sure if they had won it, they would have had many changes in their lives and one of them, especially with that kind of money, probably would have been to purchase a new Motor Home that has all the latest and greatest gadgets on it. And, you know where that would have left me, , , , sitting in an RV lot somewhere waiting for someone to come along and buy me!!!!! : (
Penny came to visit me again. Laura brought her out here to the park for about an hour yesterday morning. At one point while Jim , Linda and Laura were sitting outside under my awning, she tried to get under me, but Laura pulled her back out with the leash that she had attached to her harness. Laura said that it probably wouldn't be good for her to be under me because she'd probably get really dirty. ; )
After lunch, Jim and Linda headed over to the Mall area in Sanford and did some more Christmas shopping. The way it sounds, they found most of what they were looking for and now they only have a few more gifts to buy.
Oh, while Laura and Penny were here, I heard Jim ask Laura if she though that she would have time to come over sometime to help decorate me for Christmas. She said that she thought she would and would let Jim and Linda know when she could come. I really don't have too many decorations, but it has become kind if a tradition for Laura, and sometimes one or both of the girls, to help decorate. It's just kind of a fun thing that they've enjoyed over the years. ; )
Don't know what's happening today. I do know that CLT needs a drink of 87 octane real soon and Jim wants to go back to the DeLand Truck Center to see if those tire valve stem extensions have come in yet. Linda bought some sewing stuff when they were out shopping yesterday, so she'll be wanting to get started on those projects because they involve the Christmas presents.

The park Mardi Gras parade kicked off from the clubhouse at 11:00 yesterday morning and circled around through parts of the park before returning to the clubhouse. It wasn't a big parade, but I think most everyone here in the park had a good time and enjoyed watching it and catching the beads and candy that the participants threw out to the spectators. ; )

As you can see, Just about anything that could roll was decorated and entered into the parade. : )
After the parade, everyone started gathering for lunch. On the menu was Pulled pork sandwich, baked beans, potato wedges, slaw, desert and drinks.
They even had a band that was playing from the stage.
After the meal, there were skits, and then an auction for some chairs that some of the members of the club had refurbished by refinishing and re-caning the seats.
By the time Jim and Linda got back here, it was time for naps. ; ) After his nap, Jim went outside and checked a few things on me. He also closed the grey water valve so that some water would accumulate in the tank so that when he dumps my black water tank today, he'll have some gray water to flush out the sewer hose.
There will be more festivities at the clubhouse today and then, we'll be leaving here tomorrow morning. It's hard to believe we've been here for 2 weeks already.

They're Down and Thank You

They're down!!!! Yep, even before Linda was up yesterday morning, Jim started taking some of the Christmas decorations down. Then after Linda was up and had her breakfast, they took the rest of them down and put them away under my bed. : )
Now, don't get me wrong. I like the decorations, but once the holiday is past, I start wanting to get back to normal again.
We had a little rain here in DeBary yesterday. Nothing much, but there were a few fairly heavy showers.
Nothing much else to report, so I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who follow this Blog. I'd also like to welcome the new followers who just started following in the last few months. To me, it's still amazing that there are so many people who are interested in what a Motor Home has to say.

Photos Finally Loaded, Shopping and Dinner At Gram's Kitchen

I finally got some of those photos that Jim took Sunday to load. This first one is of Laura putting the angel on the top of the tree. The tree was actually a little too high, so some slight modifications had to be made. ; )
This next one is of Ashley taking a break and checking if there were some places on the tree that still needed decorations.
Ta-Daa!!!! The decorations inside are completed and Laura and Ashley have already headed for home.
While Laura, Ashley and Linda were decorating the inside of me, Jim was busy on the outside.
Don't I look festive? ; )
After Laura and Ashley left, Jim put all the empty boxes and bags back under my bed and then took a little nap.
Yesterday, Jim took CLT and headed to Office Depot to buy a few things. Two of the main things he and needed were printer paper and a battery for his camera. He found both of them and in about an hour was back here again.
For dinner, CLT took Jim and Linda to Gram's Kitchen in Orange City. Jim and Linda found this restaurant last year when they were here and they said that it's just as good this year as it was last year. Linda had an open faced beef sandwich and Jim had a chicken pot pie.
They said both were excellent! : )
The rest of the evening was spent watching TV, while Linda finished up some embroidery projects that she's using for presents.

I've got some pictures of Laura and Ashley decorating me and some nice pictures of the end product, but I can't get any of them to load this morning!!! : (
Laura and Ashley came about 11:00 yesterday and in about an hour and a half, all the decorations were up, Laura and Ashley had already left and I was looking good. : )
The afternoon was spent doing normal things and then for dinner Jim cooked brats and hot dogs out on the grill.
Well, I'd better quit for now, I've already been knocked off of the Internet twice.

They're Coming Today and Breakfast

Laura and Ashley were busy yesterday, so they're coming this morning to help decorate me. The park is finished with all the decorations on the "island" now and it's looking pretty neat.
They had a sausage / biscuit / scrambled egg breakfast over at the clubhouse yesterday morning so Jim and Linda headed over there a little before 9:00. When they came back they were talking about how good the food was, and how nice all the people were.
Jim got an e-mail from Jenny and it sounds like Don is doing better but is still in the hospital for observation. Keep those thoughts and prayers coming and maybe he'll be able to come home soon.

Slow Days, Decorating and Jenny and Don

It's been a slow couple of days here in DeBary. Laura stopped by for awhile Thursday, Linda has been doing more laundry, Jim has been working on trip plans, talking to the neighbors and doing a little maintenance on me.
They have decorated the grass "island" area in the middle of the main park road. It looks pretty nice and I'm hoping that Jim will go out and take some daytime and nighttime photos so I can post some of them here. There's also a lot of people decorating their RVs and park models, so maybe he can get some photos of some of them too.
I think that today, Laura and Ashley are going to come and help Jim and Linda put up Christmas decorations. There's really not a whole lot to do, but from what I understand, it's become kind of a "Christmas tradition", that started quite a few years ago, and it gives them another excuse to get together. ; )
It may take them a little longer than usual because this will be the first year that they'll be decorating me and will have to figure out where everything looks the best.
It should be fun getting decorated!!! : )

Well, Don, Jenny's husband has been in the hospital lately with some heart problems and is now back in the hospital again. Jim and Linda would like you to send your thoughts and prayers their way and wish Don a speedy recovery.
