Jim and Linda stripped the bed first thing yesterday morning and then Jim went to work installing the new control/pump unit on their Sleep Number mattress. It wasn't an especially difficult job but in an RV, doing something like that means you have to work in more confined spaces.

It didn't take long before he had the old unit out and the new one installed with the hoses neatly routed to the mattress.

While Jim was busy with that, Linda started the laundry and then cleaned out the refrigerator. It had been a long time since she had gone through it and sure enough, there were some items in there that, (well, lets just say), were not so good anymore. : O

After the mattress project, Jim took the "not so good anymore" items over to the dumpster and then talked to Allan, (The neighbor on my right side), for awhile. He and his wife, (I can't remember her name for sure, but I think it's Teresa), just returned from a trip up to Kentucky in their car, to be with family over the Holidays. He said it was pretty cold up there, and they even had some snow while they were there.

After the laundry was finished, and the bed remade, Jim took a little nap. ; )

The rest of the day was spent watching football and British Comedies on TV

Another slow day here yesterday. Jim took CLT and headed over to Wally World yesterday morning, but they didn't have what he was looking for. On the way back here, he stopped by the CG office and found out that UPS had delivered a package that he and Linda have been waiting for.

Now, if you're like me, you're wanting to know what was in that package. : )  Well, it was a new control/pump unit for their Sleep Number mattress.

It seems that lately, it has been more and more difficult to read the numbers on the controls that you use to inflate or deflate the mattress to the desired setting. One by one, the segments of the display numbers have quit working and now on one of the controls, it's almost blank. : (

Well, Jim called Select Comfort about a week or so ago, and ordered a new one. There is a warranty on the unit, but being that the mattress was purchased way back in 2005, (two Motor Homes ago), the price was pro-rated and he had to pay about 1/2 of the cost. Jim and Linda both thought it was worth it though, because they really like the mattress and a new good mattress of any kind would cost a lot more.

So, today, I think Jim is going to change the control/pump unit. Linda wants to wash the sheets anyway, and while the sheets are off of the bed, it would be a good time to do it. 

Oh, by the way. The new control/pump unit is different from the old one. The old one had 2 controls with wires running to them from the pump unit. The new one has one wireless remote control that is used to change the settings on each side of the mattress and the pump unit is somewhat smaller.

Jim and Linda decided that they wanted to go out to eat last night, so they called Laura and Lindsey to see of they wanted to go too. Well, they did and it was decided that they would meet over at the Perkins Restaurant in Orange City around 5:00.

Jim and Linda were gone for quite awhile, so I'm pretty sure that besides having a nice meal, they sat and talked for quite awhile. : )

Warming Up, An Errand and A Little Shopping

Widespread dense fog early in the morning then becoming mostly sunny. Highs around 70. West winds around 5 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon.

Still not a whole lot happening around here. Laura and Ashley stopped by for a little while Wednesday afternoon. Then, after another chilly start to the day yesterday, it warmed up nicely to close to 70 degrees. Since it was nice out, Jim and Linda decided to run some errands and do a little shopping.

The first thing they did was to have CLT (Cute Little Truck), take them over to Sanford, FL. where there is a big mall. Linda had a couple pairs of moccasins that needed repairs, so they took them to a shoe repair place in the mall.

After dropping them off, they headed to a book store where they bought a book that both of them have been wanting to read. Next was a Batteries + store where Jim tried to find a little battery for a remote control for my electric cord reel and basement door locks, but alas, it looks like that battery has been discontinued and is no longer available. : ( 

From Batteries +, they stopped at a Steak & Shake for a sandwich before having CLT bring them back here to the park.

After they returned, Jim went out and hooked me back up to the city water supply, since they're not forecasting freezing temperatures for this area for at least the next 7 days. : )

I don't know what the plans are for today. I was looking at the calendar yesterday and realized that we only have 17 more days before we leave DeBary, so if Jim and Linda have stuff to do before we leave, they had better get going and get it done!!

It is Chilly!!!!!  The highest temperature I saw on my thermometer yesterday was 48 degrees!!!!

 

At least from here, they're forecasting it to get a little warmer each day, and no more freezing temperatures in at least the next 7 days. : )

 

Not much to report this morning. No one was out and about yesterday, (including Jim). I don't think anything exciting happened in DeBary and except for the weather, there wasn't much on the news. 

 

So, rather than just bore you with my  jabbering, I'll just wish you a good day, and I'll catch you tomorrow. : )

They Were Right and Getting Ready

Clear and very cold. Lows in the upper 20s. Locally colder across rural areas. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph decreasing to around 5 mph after midnight.

 

Yep, they were right. The temperature just kept dropping yesterday and now the wind is picking up, so being that it's only supposed to get into the upper 40's today, it's going to feel really cold with the 15 to 20 mph winds!!! : (

 

Jim took CLT and went to Home Depot yesterday morning. There were a few things he needed and he wanted to get a couple water filters for me. Then on the way back here, he stopped at the Winn Dixie grocery store and pick up a few items that he and Linda needed.

 

After lunch, he went out and put some water in my fresh water tank and then put the fresh water hose away to get ready for the freezing temperatures. The hoses can usually stand some freezing without bursting, but if the fittings freeze, they usually end up broken or cracked.

 

Everyone here in the park who has plants outside were either taking them inside, if they were potted, or covering them up if they were too big or planted in the ground. Many were also draining water hoses and putting them and anything else that could freeze away.

 

Linda hasn't been feeling real well the last few days, so she spent most of the day reading one of the books she got for Christmas. For dinner, she just heated up some chicken and got out some potato salad. That, along with some veggies made a nice meal.

 

I don't think there are any plans for today. If the weather is as nasty as they're forecasting most everyone will be staying indoors. Besides, by the weekend it's supposed to be back into the 70's again, so why go out today if you can wait a day or two?  ; )

It's A Big Deal!! and A Surprise Visit

Wow!!!! Did you read that forecast above? We are about to experience a big change in the weather down here in Florida!!!! In fact, tomorrow night, they're forecasting lows in the upper 20's!!!!!

Now, I know that for some parts of the country, the 20's are not cold at all, but for Florida, (especially this far south in the state), it's a big deal!!!!

Brrrrrr!!!!!!

Jim didn't feel too well yesterday so when Laura and Lindsey called to ask him and Linda if they wanted to go out and get a sandwich for lunch someplace, Jim told Linda that she should go ahead and go, but he thought it would be better if he didn't.  That being the case, it was decided that Laura and Lindsey would stop by an Arby's restaurant, pick up some sandwiches for everyone and bring them over here.

So, about 1:30 they came over with the sandwiches and everyone enjoyed a nice lunch together. (Jim didn't eat anything).  What a nice surprise, I didn't expect to see them yesterday. : ) 

They were here for about an hour and a half before heading home.

After they left, Jim took a nap. By the time he woke up, he was feeling better, so Linda made egg sandwiches for for both of them for dinner.

The evening was spent watching TV until bedtime.

This morning, Jim seems to be feeling fine. Don't know what it was, but it didn't last long. He didn't eat or drink anything out of the ordinary on New Years Eve, so don't think that was the cause.

Happy New Year!!!!!!

It seems that almost all of the people who write the blogs that I follow are talking about what has happened this past year. Well, I'd like to be different and talk about what I'm looking forward to in this New Year.

Oh yeah, I could talk about sitting in an RV lot for almost 1/2 of the year and then being purchased by Jim and Linda, but if you want to hear about what I've been doing since being purchased, all you have to do is to go back in my posts on this blog and read about it.

Instead of looking back, I prefer to look ahead and think about what may be happening to me this year.

This should be a very exciting year for me. Jim has a trip pretty well planned out for a trip out to Oregon and then back to Illinois. So far, our travels have been rushed. We were in a hurry to come down here to Florida to get some repair work done on me. Then we rushed up to NC, VA, and back down here so that we could get to DeBary by Thanksgiving.

When we leave here in about 3 weeks, our travels should be much more relaxed. First, the plan is to go and see Jim and Linda's friends, Roland and Louise, in Frostproof, FL. After a short visit with them, we'll head to Thonotosassa, FL. to join up with the "Illinois Bunch" ( Deny and Bev, Dave and Dee Dee, and Gordy and Dorthy).

After spending a week with them, we'll start wandering towards the West Coast.

Along the way, the plan is to stop by and see some of Jim and Linda's friends who are staying at RV parks on or near our route, see some sights, and slowly work our way to California.

Jim has always wanted to go to Death Valley but one thing or another always gotten in the way, so on this trip we're planning on making that a major stop. After Death Valley and as the weather warms, we'll slowly wander our way up to Portland, (hopefully along the California/Oregon Coast), to see Jeff and Heather, (Jim's son and his lady), who Jim and Linda haven't seen since 2008.

Being that Jim and Linda so seldom get to see Jeff and Heather, we'll probably stay in Portland for at least 3 weeks before starting to wander back to the Mid-West, getting back there sometime in July.

Now, this whole trip is going to be a learning experience for me. You see, my previous owner was always in a hurry to get from point A to point B and we'd cover a lot of miles each day. From what I understand, Jim and Linda don't travel that way. Instead, they don't get on the road until about 10:00, only travel about 150 miles a day and then every few days, stay for a couple of nights if the CG/RV Park is nice.

A much slower pace than I'm used to.

I also can't ever remember being all the way to the West Coast, so that will be a new experience for me. So, I'm really looking forward to this year. : )  It should be fun and exciting and I hope you'll enjoy reading all about our wanderings.

Oh, another thing. There may be a big change in this blog. Right now, I'm experimenting with a different Blog Host and the jury is still out whether I switch or not. I would imagine that in a week or so I'll know what I'm going to do, and I'll make sure that you're the first to know.
