First of all, I want to say that I hope all you fathers out there had a great Father's Day Sunday. I know Jim did. The kids called and wished him a happy Father's Day, and most of them took the time to talk for awhile.
It made Jim's day. : )
For dinner, Linda made a chicken casserole for Jim, (that he likes very well), and pampered him a little throughout the day. ; )
Yesterday morning, we left the CG in Jamestown about 9:50 and continued East on I-94. About 40 or so miles down the road, Jim pulled me into a truck stop and filled me up with some of that good old #2 diesel fuel.
Then it was back on I-94 until 6 miles after we crossed into Minnesota. There we took a 2 mile jog to the north and picked up US 10 and followed it East to Detroit Lakes where we turned North on US 59 and follow it up here to Mahnomen, and the Shooting Star Casino RV Park.
It was 1:15 when we got here so it took us about 3 hours and 15 minutes to travel the 165 miles over here and stop for my drink.
This is a pretty nice park. It's behind the casino so you see the back side of the buildings from the CG, but if you look the other way, there's lots of trees. They have mostly pull-though sites, some with 50 amp electric, and I believe all are full hook-up. The sites are fairly level and some of them are long enough for the largest RVs.
And, the camping rate is only $20 per night, (plus tax)!!!!
Jim took some photos yesterday, but again, I'm having trouble with blogger, so I'll see what I can do.
Looking at the back of the Casino complex from the CG
My site (#40). Do you see that MH parked next to me? Well, that's my Mountain Aire cousin!! He lives up in Manitoba Canada and is down here for the summer!!!! : )
We'll be staying here for 2 nights before heading up to Bemidji, where we'll stay for 1 night before heading up to Black Duck.
Did you know that Mahnomen is the Chippewa word for Wild Rice?
