There's really nothing new going on here. Linda made some more TV mix yesterday, but she's not happy with the taste, so she said that she's going to try to "doctor" it up a little today. She also did a load of laundry while the TV mix was cooking.
Jim spent some time outside yesterday. The mosquitoes weren't too bad because there was a pretty good breeze blowing.
If you remember, I told you that Jim bought a LED light when he went to the Truck center on Monday. Well, that light is to replace the light on the dash that comes on when CLT's brakes are applied by the SMI Air Force One braking system when I'm towing him and applying my brakes and his. It needs to be able to be seen by Jim to make sure CLT's brakes aren't being applied when we're just traveling down the road. The light that came with the Air Force One system wasn't bright enough so that he could see it on my rear view camera, so he's hoping this one will be brighter.
Well anyway, Jim found a place on CLT's dash that should work, made a few minor modifications to the LED light and figured out a way to attach it with Velcro. He still needs to get some wire to hook it up to the wires that were installed for the other light. He says that he's got some somewhere, he just has to find it. ; )
For dinner, Jim cooked a steak out on the grill, (that he and Linda shared), while Linda cooked some cauliflower inside on my stove and made some garlic bread out of some slices of regular bread.
Between the TV mix and the garlic bread, I smelled really good inside for most of the day!!! : )

Getting Ready Early, SMI Update and Back To Mike And Gina's

Another quiet day here at the Dickens RV Park. I had neighbors for a few days, but they both left yesterday and now there's only a few RV in this section. Jim did a few things outside to start getting me ready to head to Virginia Beach. You see, as of tomorrow, the bottom is going to drop out of the temperatures around here and they're forecasting a high temperature of mid 50's and lows in the mid 30's for the next 3 days. : ( And Friday and Saturday, the forecast also includes a 40% to 50% chance of rain, so he thought he better get some of the pre travel stuff done early.
Linda had to call her doctor up in Illinois yesterday to find out how the blood test turned out, (it was fine), and get a new prescription for one of her meds. So, until the doctor called the prescription in to the drug store, they couldn't go and get her meds. That meant they had to wait and will have go sometime today.
Oh, I wanted to give you an update on the SMI Air Force One toad brake system that has been installed on me and CLT. I haven't towed CLT real far and we haven't been in any mountains, but I have had to make a couple of quick stops, for changing stop lights, and so far, I'm really pleased with the SMI unit.
It seems to be working as advertised and I can definitely feel CLT helping to stop us when Jim applies my brakes, (especially when making a quick stop). It's really easy for Jim to hook up. There's just a small air hose that goes between CLT and myself, along with a little cable to the break-away switch, so there is very little difference in the hook-up time.
So far, so good. : )
Jim and Linda took CLT and headed over to Mike and Gina's again last evening for dinner. Linda got busy helping Brenna and Savanna with a project so they didn't get back here until almost 9:00. Tonight, tomorrow and Saturday, Mike and his family are going to be busy so Jim and Linda won't be seeing them until Sunday. Then they'll go over to Mike and Gina's sometime in the afternoon and then go out to eat at a restaurant for dinner.
It's hard to believe that we've been here almost 2 weeks already. It's time for us to head to Virginia Beach though and then head South before the weather gets too nasty up here. I think by the time we get down to Florida, we'll have had enough cold weather and will enjoy the warmth. ; )

Back On The Road
Callahan, FL.

Forecast = Mostly cloudy with slight chance of showers in the morning...then partly cloudy with slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs in the mid 80s. Southwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.
It took Jim a little longer than usual to get CLT hooked to the back of me. He had to make sure that the air hose from my brake system was routed so that it didn't get hung up on anything while I made turns or went through dips or over humps. Then, there was also the little cable from the break-a-way switch that had to be attached to the back of me and needed to be routed also.
Even with the extra time spent doing all of that, we still pulled out of the parking lot at Creative Coach a little before 9:00. : )
After returning to I-4, we headed back towards Tampa where we turned North on I-75 and retraced our route back up to Ocala. Just North of Ocala, we turned East on Rt 326 and took it for a few miles until we came to US 301 where we turned back North. 301 then brought us all the way up here to Kelly's Countryside RV Park, which is a few miles North of Callahan and right on US 301.
I had never been to this park before, but I can sure see why Jim and Linda like it so much. The folks here are very friendly, they have sites of all sizes to accommodate just about any size RV, and if you're just staying over night or for a few days, they even have some pull-through sites so you don't even have to unhook if you don't want to.
For Jim and Linda it was a pretty long travel day. It was 1:20 when we pulled into the RV Park, so we were on the road for 4 hours and 25 minutes and covered 232 miles.
Jim and Linda both felt that they needed a couple days to just kick back, do laundry and reorganize some of the things inside of me that needed to be moved for repairs. So, when Jim registered me, he payed for 3 nights. : ) That's just fine with me. It was pretty nerve wracking at the repair place, having to always be ready to be worked on at few minutes notice, and then at times, worrying about what they were going to find as they made the repairs.
Yep, I think 3 nights here in a nice quiet RV Park will be just fine. ; )

Would you believe that the mechanics here at Creative Coach finished the repairs and updates to me yesterday afternoon? Yep!!!! By about 3:00, Glenn was taking me out for a test drive and then, (to my surprise), he drove me around to one of the other buildings in this complex and had 2 men give me a much needed bath!!!!
Everything on Jim's list of repairs to me has been addressed and the SMI Air Force One brake system has been installed on me and CLT. So unless something happens, we'll be pulling out of here this morning and heading towards North Carolina. and Virginia to see Jim and Linda's sons. : )
If you remember, that's where we were originally going to go before I had my slide problems and other issues. : (
So, the plan is to leave here around 9:00 this morning and head up towards the Jacksonville area where there's a CG that Jim and Linda have stayed at before. (I think it's near a town called Callahan). We may stay there a couple days so that Linda can get some laundry done and Jim can get a few thing reorganized in my basement compartments and the back of CLT.

Canceling the Appointment At SMI and Indiana To Tennessee
Clarksville, TN,

Forecast = Decreasing clouds. Scattered showers. Highs around 70. North winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 30 percent.
Jim did call and tell Kyle at SMI that he didn't feel comfortable trying to get me into their parking lot. Kyle said that he understood, but was sure that they could get me in and out of the lot. Well, Jim didn't want to take the chance, so he made arrangements to go over there and purchase a kit.
By this time, Linda was up and ready, so she and Jim took CLT and headed over there. By a little after 10:00 they were back from SMI, CLT was hooked to the back of me, and we were pulling out of the Fairgrounds.
From the Fairgrounds, we headed North on US 41 for a few miles where we tuned East on I-64. 64 took us over to I-164 where we tuned South and followed it around Evansville until we came back to US-41. Going South on 41 took us across the Ohio River and into Kentucky where we got onto the Pennyrile Parkway and followed it all the way down to I-24. Turning SE on 24 took us into Tennessee and here to the Clarksville RV Pk, in Clarksville. It was about 12:25 when we pulled up to the stop sign in the park, so it took us about 2 hours and 15 minutes to travel just about 130 miles.
The Clarksville RV Pk is pretty nice but kind of expensive. Jim and Linda have stayed here before because it's convenient but think it's overpriced for what you get.
Jim hadn't slept very well the night before, so as soon as he had me hooked up to the utilities, he and Linda both took naps. : )
Today, we'll be heading down into Alabama. Jim found a couple CGs down there that will work and are reasonably priced.
Oh, and I want to thank Eric and the other followers who have either e-mailed Jim or left a comment on this blog. Your suggestions of what may be wrong with my slide may be correct, but since I have some other issues, we're going to go on down to Florida to have them all addressed. Then, hopefully we can have a nice relaxing trip up to NC and VA to see Jim and Linda's kids and grand kids. : )

Back to Tuesday, Faircamping and A Partial Plan
Evansville, IN.

Forecast = Mostly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of showers. Highs in the lower 70s. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph.
I'm going to back up to Tuesday when we left Rantoul after finally getting my slide retracted.
We left Rantoul about 9:30 and the first thing Jim did was take me to an F S station in Rantoul and fill me up with diesel fuel. After I had my fill, we headed South on US 45 until we came to I-74 down by Champaign. Then we followed 74 East to Danville, IL, where we tuned South on IL Route 1. Rt 1 took us down to I-70 where we turned East and followed it into Indiana. A little ways into Indiana, we turned South on US 41 and followed it all the way down here to the Vanderburgh 4 H Fairgrounds.
The CG here is pretty nice, but it was filled up with RVs as they are having a craft show this weekend here at the fairgrounds. : ( But, Cindy, the nice lady in the office, arranged for me to be parked next to a small building in another section of the fairgrounds where there is a 30 amp electric connection and a water hydrant. : )
I'm kind of in the middle of a parking lot, but the electric is good, (119 volts), and the blacktop parking lot is level here where I'm parked. It's not the best place I've stayed at, but here in Evansville, you really don't have much else to choose from. And, for $18 a night, I can't complain too much. ; )

CLT says that he was surprised at how small their parking lot is, since the one at their old location was much larger. He says that I could get in there OK, but he's not sure how I'd get turned around to head back out onto a busy 4 lane road.
Jim must have thought the same thing because I'm pretty sure that he's going to call SMI this morning to cancel the appointment and see if he can just purchase the kit and either try install it himself or have the mechanics install it when we get down to Florida.
Depending on how things go, we'll be leaving here sometime this morning. I don't know how far we'll get today, (it depends on when we'll be getting out of here.) There are a few campgrounds within a couple of hours of here, but if we decide go farther than that, we'd have to go quite a bit farther to find another one.
When Jim called Lester down in Florida he told Jim that he could get me in on the 3rd of October, so we actually have quite a bit of time to get down there. Jim has already made a trip plan and pretty much knows what roads we'll be taking down there.
Now, if he can find CGs for me to stay at along that route, we'll be all set. ; )
