DeBary To Frostproof and Roland And Louise's House

Frostproof, FL.

59 Deg. clear, SE breeze @ 4 mph.

Forecast - Patchy fog early in the morning...otherwise partly sunny. Highs in the lower 80s. Southeast winds 5 to 10 mph.

After getting the rest of the utilities unhooked and the last of the items inside of me stored and secured, Jim fired up my engine and pulled me out of my site. By the time he got CLT (Cute Little Truck), hooked to the back of me, it was almost exactly 10:00 when we started out.

Within about 15 minutes we were back on I-4 and heading SW. As usual, I-4 was very busy, (especially through Orlando), but the traffic moved along pretty well and there were only a few times when we had to slow down. Not far past Kissimmee we turned South on US 27 and followed it down here to Frostproof and the Lakemont Ridge Home and RV Resort, which is less than a mile off of US 27.

It was 12:00 when we pulled up in front of the office, so it took us almost exactly 2 hours to travel the 91 miles down here. Not too bad considering the traffic on I-4 and all the stop lights on 27.

Jim went into the office and registered me and in about another hour, I was in my site and all set up. : )

After I was set up, Jim called Roland to let him know that we were here, and in a few minutes, he came to see me. After talking for awhile, he invited Jim and Linda to come over to their new, (to them), home at the Southern Pines Resort.  Jim told him that he wanted to take a little nap first, and then he and Linda would come over.

So, after Jim's nap, he and Linda took CLT and headed over there.

CLT says that they've got a really nice place. As you can see by the photos that Jim took, it's a double-wide home and it has a car port and a workshop on the side of it.

This is a little room that you walk into as you come through the front screened-in porch. They call it a "Florida Room".

This is the dining area.

Looking from the dining area into the Kitchen.

Jim took a photo of the living room area too, it didn't turn out very well, but you can see how nice their house is.

For dinner, Roland grilled some salmon steaks on his grill and Louise cooked collard greens and rice inside. That along with a salad and some bread that Linda had taken over there, made for an excellent meal.

About 8:00 Jim and Linda came back here and then after watching some TV, headed to bed.

Did you know that on this date in 1848, James W. Marshall discovered a gold nugget at Sutter's Mill in northern California? The discovery led to the gold rush of '49
