A Very Nice Mother's Day For Linda

Portland, OR.

56 deg. clear, no wind.

Forecast = Partly cloudy in the morning, then overcast. High of 88F. Winds from the NNW at 5 to 10 mph shifting to the West in the afternoon.

Ashley, Linda's grand daughter was the first to call yesterday morning. After wishing Linda a happy Mother's Day, they talked for quite awhile, catching up on what's been going on since we saw her when we were in Florida.

Just before noon, Laura, (Linda's Daughter), called. She and Lindsey were on their way up to Jacksonville to see Anna, (her daughter and Linda's grand daughter), who has moved down there from Beaufort, SC. They were towing their pop-up trailer and were going to camp up there near Anna's for a few days.

Early afternoon, Anna called Linda and then mid-afternoon, Joe called from Virginia Beach. All of them wishing Linda a Happy Mother's Day and talking for awhile.   : )

Oh, and Linda's Sister-in-law also called from Wisconsin to wish Linda a great day!  : )

Other than talking to her kids, grand-kids and sister-in-law, Linda didn't do a whole lot yesterday. She and Jim watched some TV, she read some, did some puzzles and played with the computer a little. For dinner, Jim cooked a nice thick juicy steak out on the grill and Linda cooked some potatoes and sliced some tomatoes inside.

All in all, I think Linda had a very nice day. Even though we're not near any of her kids or grand kids, she got to talk to them on the phone.

Today, the repair man is supposed to be here at 9:00. Then, depending on what's happening with my repairs, Jeff and Heather may come out to see me this afternoon.

I still haven't met Heather and am looking forward to meeting her.

Did you know that on this date in 1897 - "The Stars and Stripes Forever" by John Phillip Sousa was performed for the first time? It was at a ceremony where a statue of George Washington was unveiled.
